The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are just off the coast of Africa, South of Morocco and North of Western Sahara.  You might think that the climate would be tropical, but it is more temperate than anything else.  The weather is moderated by cool ocean breezes. Most of the islands are very mountainous, too.  This means that it is much cooler as you go up.  It snowed on us at 7000 feet this January.
