and Rescue of Avalanche Victim on Mt. Rainier
First we had to protect the slopes above the search area by blasting a few avalanches. Here is Chris from the Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol, Fire in the hole!
We put about 50 lbs of explosives on the ground. Here Aaron chucks one over the trees.
After we made the place safe by controlling any threat of avalanches onto the search area, we let the dogs loose. Here is Lynn Baugher from Crystal Mountain.
Then we got the probe line going.
Rebecca found some nice powder to roll around in.
Members of Tacoma, Seattle, and Olympic Mountain Rescue were the main force of personnel up at the scene. These guys and gals are awesome.
